Broncos tonight, a giveaway, and your call on the odds

Broncos tonight, a giveaway, and your call on the odds

Game night. The Broncos open the season tonight at Kansas City, 6:15 our time, under the Monday night lights. We’re marking it with a giveaway, a question for you, and a look ahead at the other season that starts right about now. A quick one before kickoff.

— Win the Ride: Get Your Crew to a Broncos Home Game

Here is the fun one. We are giving away a round-trip ride for up to six to a Broncos home game at Empower Field this season. Your driver takes the traffic, the parking, and the lot at midnight. You take the tailgate.

To enter, email debra@drivedenvercarservice.com with a photo of you and your crew in your Broncos gear. That is the whole entry. Send it by Sunday, September 27, we will draw a winner, and we will get you to a home game door to door in a luxury SUV.

The prize is the ride for up to six. Bring your own tickets and your voices.

DriveDenver is an independent chauffeur service and is not affiliated with or endorsed by the Denver Broncos or the NFL. One entry per household.

— WHAT ARE THE ODDS?

Denver opening at Arrowhead is never a sure thing. As of this morning, the prediction markets have the Broncos at about 47 percent to win tonight. A coin flip against a division rival on the road.

What is your call? Hit reply with your prediction. We will share where the group landed.

— FROM JERSEYS TO BLACK TIE: THE SEASON AHEAD

Tonight it is face paint and foam fingers. But mid-September is also when Denver’s other season quietly begins. Gala season. Seven months of black-tie fundraisers for the hospitals, museums, and arts groups, from now into late spring.

We wrote a driver’s calendar for it: which months fill up, why a six-hour evening is easier when someone else handles the valet line and the twelve-degree walk to the car, and the small touches that make the night. Your driver can even run home for the thing you left on the counter during cocktails.

It is the clearest look we have put in writing at how black-tie season actually works.

— WHAT’S COMING

A few things worth marking:

Broncos at home. The home opener is Sunday, September 20 against Jacksonville, then a full fall slate at Empower Field. A game-day ride means no parking lot at midnight, and it is exactly what the giveaway winner gets.

Gala season builds. The black-tie calendar runs from now into late spring, and the busiest nights book their cars early. The guide above shows which.

Fall travel. The aspens are turning and the ski-season planning window is open. December mountain transfers are the smart ones to lock in now.
